Mabel Gubbins Rapper
Mabel dancing under the Bridge of Sighs, Oxford

Mabel had a lovely time at DERT 2017, where they narrowly (half a point!) missed out on coming 3rd in the Championship. They're looking forward to Sheffield in 2018!

...and, lured by the promise of gin, on October 28th Mabel are off to Bath Time.

Mabel Day 2017 will be on December 3rd. Let us know if you fancy dropping by!

Mabel Gubbins Rapper

Mabel Gubbins Rapper is a women's dance team, currently based in the village of Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, near Oxford.

They perform traditional and evolved rapper sword dances, which originate from the mining regions of Northumberland and Durham. They can be often seen dancing in pubs around Oxfordshire, dancing in pubs at festivals around the country, and, if at all possible, not dancing in car parks.

The best way to find a Mabel at a folk festival is to wave a bottle of gin in the air, and the best way to get rid of one is to tell them the way to a really good cake shop...

Mabel is a very friendly team, and would love to hear from anyone who might like to join them. This includes people who have never danced before, people who are already experts, and people who are merely curious... If anyone would like to give rapper a try, contact Mabel for more details. The team currently meets on Tuesday evenings in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell Jubilee Pavilion.
