International Mabel Day
In a tradition dating back to as long ago as 2000, Mabel organises a day of dance in Oxford city centre. Rapper teams from all over the country converge, dancing in pubs, on street corners, and, in fact, pretty much anywhere there's six square feet of space and the possibility of an audience.
In 2011, Mabel Day XII will be taking place on the 4th of December.
Just drop us a line if your team would like to come along and dance! We're currently expecting:
- Hawksword
Northgate- Ryknild Rapper
- Thrales
- Triskele
- Warwick University
- Whip the Cat
We're meeting in The Royal Blenheim, which will be open from 11 serving tea, coffee, bacon butties and possibly even beer. We hope to get the dancing underway by about half past 12. From there, we'll move on to the Far From The Madding Crowd.
We'll finish up at the Kings Arms, getting there around 4.
In between the FFTMC and the Kings Arms, we'll split into two or three separate tours roaming round the town centre pubs.
If you're driving to Oxford and planning to use the Park & Ride (which we really recommend, parking in Oxford is a hideous experience), then please be aware that Redbridge, Seacourt and Pear Tree now charge for parking. There are full details on Oxford's Park & Ride page. Please check timetables, too, as on Sundays the Park & Ride buses stop ridiculously early (at or before 7pm).
